The Depth of Demonic Confusion in Gay Culture
“…God permit’s the devil to blind and delude many who merit this by their sins and audacities…For with God’s permission they have already been affected by the spirit of misunderstanding.” In these words, from the ever brilliant St. John of the Cross, I have found some of the answers I seek. For, I have tried in vain to originate some original explanation within myself to explain why my gay brothers and sisters have been so deceived; and have shut out the Healing Truth of Christ. The answer? In essence, as with all the workings of the universe: God has permitted it. But this makes me wonder even further: Why? Again, John of the Cross answers: “…God allowed them to be blinded is the explanation for their unbelief, for in their attachment they wanted events to happen and God to answer according to their own desires and appetites.”
Ever present, in the gay culture, is the overriding demand that all social, economic, political, and even religious institutions and structures conform to their self-conception of themselves. This was most evident in The American Psychological Association’s publication “Appropriate Therapeutic Responses to Sexual Orientation” which effectively negates all spiritual beliefs that do not fully accept the sexually active homosexual orientation. (see: http://www.josephsciambra.com/2014/07/the-american-psychological-association.html) Sadly, these demands leave very little room for Our Lord Jesus Christ. In those circumstances: “The devil then intervenes, answering in harmony with that person’s desire and pleasure; and since the devil’s replies and communications are pleasing and satisfactory, that man will let himself become seriously deluded.”
And, such is the current state of “gay” Christianity; i.e. it either totally caters to the homosexual mind-set or rejects it completely and, through lack of charity or unwillingness to outreach, never finds the Truth of Christ’s destiny for those afflicted with same-sex attraction. But: What is that destiny? Initially, it is that dark place that gays do not want to go: the often painful and hidden memories of the past; of being abused; of being neglected; of feeling unloved. Fundamentally, this is the Cross. Thus, only through the Cross will purification and true enlightenment be possible: “Hence the dark night…is the means to the knowledge of both God and self.”

Parents of Snuff Porn Victim Speak Out
I have long argued that snuff films are real and not just the makings of an urban legend; see: http://www.josephsciambra.com/2013/05/snuff-films-are-real-child-porn.html During my short stint in pornography, I came across those whom the perverts in porn even regarded as scum: those dabbling in snuff and child porn. Now, in the UK, a young woman was killed during an amateur porn shoot; the victim: a 17 year old who agreed to a photographic session in which she would be pictured with a noose around her neck. But, instead, the porn obsessed photographer hung the girl and recorded her death from asphyxiation. Her parents spoke out against porn saying: “Something has to be done about internet porn. I was so naive – I had no idea how easy it is to go on the internet and find the kind of extreme pornography that [the killer] was accessing. It’s horrendous…Worst of all, men, including [the killer,] are re-enacting what they see online…He lynched her for sexual pleasure. I’ve never come across anything quite this cruel. It is pure, pure evil.” Tragically, during the inquiry into the murder, it was revealed that the killer in 2008 tried to strangle another teenage girl that he lured to his house under the pretense of a modeling photo shoot.

The first thing that immediately struck me during this year’s outreach at the 2014 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade were the vast numbers of young people present: most notable were large hordes of roaming hand-holding teen girls – all looking like Ke$ha clones in matching daisy-dukes, bra-tops, and strange flowered headbands. It was disconcerting to see the same fashion statement, with no variation, over and over again. The only thing I could compare it to were my own recollections of growing up in the 1980s and getting sick of seeing everyone wear the same Izod polo-shirt and sockless Sperry Top-siders. The attitude of these girls was brash and sickeningly coy in a ridiculous feigned sort of way: some rudely grabbed my body, demanding to have their pictures taken with me and my JesusLovesGayMen.com sign. They were a generation of lost tikes, dressing up like their favorite pop-whore, and blindly flashing the boys. It was more pitiful than anything the gay men could put out there.
Afterwards, I could not help but to remember the first time I attended one of these spectacles. It was in 1988, and the blood of AIDS victims was still flowing down the streets of The Castro. The Parade itself had moments of raucous joy and lascivious excess, but everything was tinged with am impending sense of doom: embodied by the figure of former Disco-queen, and AIDS victim, Sylvester (best known for the hit song “You Make Me Feel”) being rolled down the street in a wheelchair. Others, who were similarly wasting away, followed. Everywhere there were posters demanding the government do more in terms of AIDS research; the strict tenants of safe-sex were on everyone’s mind; yet, on the sidelines, some still cried for those who had died far too young. Later that night, from the “older” guys, then in their 30s and 40s, I heard about the first Gay Pride Parades, and how they were fighting for the rights of us newbies. It was because of them, they proudly declared, that we could nowadays express your sexuality without fear. But, I was afraid: of one day being wheeled down the street in my own wheelchair.
Fast-forward to 2014. One of the sole survivors returns. The “older” guys? Most are long since dead; in fact, they were dying, and didn’t know it, back in 88. As for my fellow teenage companions that I danced along the street with: dead during the second-wave of AIDS deaths in the mid-90s; dead from suicide; dead from drug-overdoses; others had slipped into semi-obscurity, holding fast to a small cadre of trusted HIV- buddies; some tried desperately to hold onto the gay dream and fell into the role of “daddy,” recruiting a new generation of lustful, but semi-innocent conscripts. For the most part, my age group (30s and 40s) was noticeably missing from the 2014 Parade. There were a few from the generation ahead of mine - that groomed me when I was young; for the most part, they looked old, sagging and desperate; trying haplessly to remain relevant within a culture that is forever youth obsessed. And there were many young and beautiful bodies on display, but somehow, the uninhibited exhibitionism made everything appear ugly. When I noticed one “Catholic” high-school girl, who stood next to me in order to get her picture taken, leering at a nearly naked gay boy, I said to her: “You are not gay!” She said: “no.” “What are you doing here then?” I retorted. She said rather audaciously: “To look at the hot guys.” Standing next to her, another friend who was listening shouted at me: “…the hot gay guys.” I thought to myself, how long will they look this way? As, in front of my eyes: they seemed to be wasting away. But, this was the main draw for these girls, as the largest gay male showing was from those in their teens and twenties; mainly perky twinks who looked to be heavy users of chemical depilatories. I saw myself in them; only, they are bold and reckless. They have no fear of AIDS; for, that was something relegated to the past. I was approached by one boy, probably about 18 or 19, frighteningly perhaps younger, who wanted one of the bracelets I was giving away. He was pale and rail thin; his body toned and attractive, but spotted with strange little pimples. He was pushing up to me, but I felt only sadness for him: as a teen he looked something like I did at 29: washed-up and over used. He asked me to put the bracelet on his arm. I did, looked into his face, and realized that this child was dead inside. My heart broke. We have lost them; we have lost a generation: to AIDS and to satan.
Where were the red ribbons? They have disappeared; now, because they are embarrassing and inconvenient; as gay men no longer have AIDS; because in the elitist gay fantasyland – gay men now only have mortgages, sport SUVs, and PTA meetings. Where are the men in wheel-chairs? The gay lobby just pushed them into the abyss of memory.

Study Shows Mind-Bending Effect of Porn-Pop Media on Teen Girls
Girls as young as nine described their ideal woman as a “pretty” blonde who dresses provocatively to attract men, according to shocking new research. A group of 13-14 year-olds revealed that she would wear “tight” tops, expose her bra straps to get attention from men and have expensive clothes. Asked to describe her, they used words such as a “whore” and “slutty” and said she would be promiscuous. The findings came as researchers studied body image issues among young girls. Professor Niva Piran of the University of Toronto asked two groups of girls aged nine to 11 and 13-14 to draw “the ideal woman.”
The cause of this porno-ization? First, the breakdown of the family; including the disappearance and decrease in power of the extended family. In past eras, girls would often be instructed, and scolded, by older female family members on a host of topics: appearance, behavior, choices in men. Rebel-author Camille Paglia wrote: “Male homosexuality is increasing, because masculinity is in crisis and because material consciousness, severed from the support network of the extended family, has become a psychotic system, forcing the young to struggle for life against clinging parental fantasy.” Currently, I think the same can be said about femininity: which has created fetishistic lesbian icons out of female media celebrities. Secondly, children who grew up dressing like Madonna, now – have their own kids. For example: a host of celebrities have embraced the Madonna retro-trend style of lingerie as outer-wear, including: Kim Kardashian, Ellie Goulding, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé, Daisy Lowe, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. Department stores have seen an increase in sales in boudoir inspired lingerie and sleepwear compared to sales last year, and a spokesperson says the trend to wear underwear as outerwear is this summer’s “must-have high street style.” One retailer has seen an uplift of 132% in the sales of printed chemises since spring with the floral garden print chemise proving most popular. In addition, the infamous high-cut Baywatch-style bathing suit - made famous by Pamela Anderson in the 1990s - is back with a vengeance this season. In the last month alone, one e-tailer has seen sales of the poolside apparel soar by 329% - and most of the credit goes to Miley Cyrus; namely because of her semi-pornographic costumes featured in the Bangerz Tour. Consequently, American culture is always in a perpetual state of descent through dissemination: in other words, as the public becomes more debased, they require sleazier idols, who, in turn, influence the same adoring public to mimic them.

Gay Culture as the Field of Lost (Sheep) Souls
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep. But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep: And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me. As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.” (John 10: 11-16)
People often ask me about my feelings towards the gay men and women whom I speak with during the Gay Pride Parades, or those that approach me during outreach in The Castro or other areas of San Francisco. First of all, I have no impression that these person are evil; on the contrary, I often find them to be very open and kind-hearted. Yet, behind the repeatedly frantic smiles, I indelibly sense a distinct aura of sadness; of loss; and of a discontentedly questing spirit. At these moments, the passages from The Holy Scripture that always come to mind are those about sheep without a shepherd. Because, when I am with active homosexuals, in their environs, they are restlessly wandering and aimlessly searching about: “Seeing the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were bewildered and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd.” It’s a strange phenomenon: imagine a large flock of little lambs all jumbled together in a field; they all have their heads down and are munching away; but, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings and to each other. Similarly, at gay gatherings, there is this atmosphere of rote instinct; swerving towards intense self-containment and individual satisfaction. It is a sort of pointless gorging that is essentially unsatisfying. And, the hirelings inside the gay community continually misdirect those under their change into danger; to only abandon them when things go wrong: this was most evident at the 2014 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade as witnessed by the detachment and disingenuous air of both Gavin Newsom and Nancy Pelosi. I can only compare it to the grand pretentiousness in the brilliant Gustave Caillebotte painting “Paris Street, Rainy Day.” They are posers; and, plainly don’t care. In contrast, this particular favorite image (see below) of Christ as The Good Shepherd is clearly not fine art, but, the stance and posture of Jesus are both evocative of Christ as the new David confronting Goliath: the helpless lamb protected under the shadow of the Savior; the crozier raised high in a simple gesture of strength. This is something lasting and indelibly real; and, a true place of safety and protection.

As HIV Rises in Gay Men, the UN Turns to Science to Keep the Dream Alive
HIV infections are rising among gay men in many parts of the world, the World Health Organization warned, urging all men who have sex with men to take antiretroviral drugs to prevent infection. “We are seeing exploding epidemics,” warned Gottfried Hirnschall, who heads WHO's HIV department. Infection rates are rising again among men who have sex with men -- the group at the epicentre of AIDS pandemic when it first emerged 33 years ago, he told reporters in Geneva. In its new recommendations for combatting the HIV/AIDS pandemic, published, the UN health agency therefore for the first time “strongly recommends men who have sex with men consider taking antiretroviral medicines as an additional method of preventing HIV infection.”
Author’s note: Because the condom queen mania of the 1980s and 90s did not work, epitomized by Clinton appointee Joycelyn Elders, the United Nations’ World Health Organization is recommending mandatory retroviral treatment for all HIV- sexually active gay men. The attempts by world governments, primarily in the US and Western Europe, and the machinations of social engineers, to create a sustainable gay culture, have failed miserably. Gay men have not curtailed their activities, nor have they embraced monogamy, as the gay elitist media predicted, (See my earlier blog: http://www.josephsciambra.com/2013/11/gay-men-continue-to-engage-in-deadly.html) but, continue their self-destructive patterns which only reveal the dysfunction and desperation inherent within the orientation. At its heart, this is a sick conspiracy, involving those at the highest levels of political authority, with the aid of the pharmaceutical companies: for, at all costs, they do not want homosexual men to stop having sex, because, if they did stop - they would lose their power over them.

I first started to idolize the mythos of the City by the Bay when I heard The Village People song “San Francisco;” taken from their debut album released in 1977. To a confused little boy, such as the already legendary Studio 54, it seemed like a place just “over the rainbow;” were all your troubles disappeared. Later, my draw to the place solidified, during the 1960s revivalism of the 80s, when my favorite song became Scott McKenzie’s “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair.)” I wholeheartedly believed the lyrics: “If you're going to San Francisco/You're gonna meet some gentle people there…”
While I did meet some extraordinarily kind and “gentle” people in San Francisco, I also came across an equal, if not greater, number of lost, abusive, and sick individuals. It was the post-AIDS era of the late-80s, and many still walked about The Castro like ghosts: with sunken cheeks, blotchy skin, and hacking coughs; others, just wept over the memories of dead friends and lovers. Yet, on the surface, all was almost back to “normal.” The bathhouses had reopened, Madonna was exploring her bisexuality, and the political tone started moving from AIDS awareness to several none issues such as gays in the military. Looking like the future seemed bright; I jumped in with a mind full of abandon. Suddenly, people starting dying around me: from AIDS, from over-doses, and by their own hand. By 1999, I was burned-out: gone through countless courses of antibiotics for numerous STDs, been convinced I had become HIV+, and was bleeding from nearly every orifice. So much for San Francisco.

New Gay Poster Boy is Another Damaged Soul
Ian Thorpe, one of the most decorated Olympic swimmers in history, recently revealed that he is gay. So, for the time being, the Australian athlete replaces former gay poster boy Tom Daley as the new face of homosexual normalcy. Yet, like Daley, and their American counterpart Michael Sam, their lives have been anything but picture-perfect. (For my earlier blog on Michael Sam, see: http://www.josephsciambra.com/2014/02/celebration-nfl-prospect-comes-out.html) Thorpe, whose father was also an athlete, has suffered a life-long battle with mental illness; particularly depression and alcoholism. Much of the angst and turmoil seems to surround his father, whom himself has admitted that he grew up with an abusive dad. In his most publicized break with reality, Thorpe was arrested near his parent’s home under the influence of pain-killers and anti-depressants. In his 2012 autobiography, Thorpe wrote: “I like different things. For me, I'm a nerd. I'm just someone who happened to be good at sport as well. I educated myself by reading books on planes, traveling around the world. I like beautiful things in the world, I like the aesthetics of those things…” Because of this, the rather introverted and artistic boy had been dogged by questions of homosexuality since age 15; resulting in a self-contained guardedness; Thorpe added: “The truth is I've spent most of my adult life trying to avoid relationships…if people get too close to me I often end up pushing them away.”
Earlier, in 2013, another Olympic champion, UK Gold Medalist in Diving Tom Daley, became the darling of the gay set when he reveled that he was involved with a much older man. Like Thorpe, Daley struggled with family and personal issues as a child: he was bullied so severely by other boys that he had to switch schools; his doting stage-father died when he was 17; so traumatized by this death, that, though he had only ever dated girls, he fell in love with a man only slightly younger than his dad. Of the relationship, Daley said: “I’ve been dating girls and I’ve never really had a serious relationship to talk about and now I feel ready to talk about my relationships. Come spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe, and everything just feels great. And, well, that someone – is a guy.” Interesting that he stressed the emotion of safety. Concerning the traumas in his past, Daley’s mother said: “He is capable of compartmentalizing his life and lets stuff like this go over his head. He has to. But I had that motherly instinct to protect.” She added: “…I am the only parent left to defend him.” In my experience, gay men who are prone to so called “compartmentalizing,” never really deal with the problems at hand; for, they keep placing them on a shelf, promising to return to it at a later date; when, in the mean time, more shelves and compartments keep being added. Instead, they seek out the safety and protection they never had, or sadly lost.

Back in the 1990s, when I was very much a part of the gay lifestyle, I idolized certain political figures; all Democrats: who I thought would usher in a new age of homosexual acceptance and freedom; I even thought that these demagogues would heal us by funding AIDS research; and even wipe away all memories of childhood trauma – starting with the symbolic acceptance of gays in the military. Suddenly, it started to all come crashing down when I began to date a highly placed San Francisco political operative who sometimes invited me to accompany him to certain fundraising functions. At one such event, I overheard one of my heroes speaking quite despairingly of having to attend the gay parade “freak-shows.” I asked my friend about this; he was totally unconcerned. I was politically naive, and he educated me about the tradeoff: offering gay loyal voting blocks for social change; the Democrats had signed on. My little fantasy world was spinning out of control.
While there are committed leftists and homosexual rights advocates in the Democratic Party, most, and the same goes for the Republicans, are primarily political opportunists greedy for power. In terms of the gay community, the Democrats covet them as allies because of their singular focus upon Democratic policies, generosity in fundraising, and ability to mobilize during election cycles. As for actually caring about the welfare of gay men and women - Democrats have a sort of “bread and circuses” policy: keep them temporarily happy and keep them alive; hence, Democrats’ push for same-sex marriage in the middle of a gay STD epidemic and the CDC push for all gay active men to take Truvada in order to ward off possible HIV infections. There have only been rare instances of politicians actually doing the right thing when homosexuals are concerned: way back in the 1980s, when then Mayor of San Francisco Dianne Feinstein very unpopularly closed the disease infested bathhouses, and, recently, when the Texas GOP endorsed gay “reparative” therapy; only to be outdone once political careerist Governor Rick Perry tried to save face and backtrack on the stance. Otherwise, the US government has resoundingly left homosexuals to wallow in their illnesses. Just a few days ago: Obama refused to carry a conversation further when a gay man said he is only gay “when having sex.” Causing, the president to laugh, then, realizing there was a group of children near the two, he said, “Not in front of the kids!” Why so squeamish? Strange since Obama once said: “My 9-year-old and my 6-year-old are already aware that there are same-sex couples. And my wife and I have talked about it. And one of the things I want to communicate to my children is not to be afraid of people who are different, and because there have been times in our history where I was considered different. And one of the things I think the next president has to do is to stop fanning people’s fears.” Most significantly, gay goddess, Nancy Pelosi, overwhelming refused to have much physical contact with her gay constituency at the 2014 Pride Parade: preferring to merely offer the royal wave behind chain link fences lest she be soiled in their corruption. In this, the Holy Scriptures are fulfilled: “For, that of the true proverb has happened to them: The dog is returned to his vomit: and, The sow that was washed, to her wallowing in the mire.” (2 Pete 2: 22)

Skyrocketing STDs in Gay San Francisco
Despite being the liberal gay bastion of the world: where men and women freely parade about naked in public during Pride, openly engage in anal and oral sex in front of wandering crowds during the Folsom Street Fair, became some of the first in the US to legally marry their same-sex partners, and are a large enough majority to swing all local elections; yet, still, the rates of STDs among gay men in San Francisco continue to rise. Has the gay experiment as promoted by Democrat politicians such as Nancy Pelosi failed? And, at the 2014 Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco, what was she actually celebrating?
Author’s note: as someone who has had Pharyngeal Chlamydia several times, the symptoms are horrendous: it’s like your mouth and throat are an over-heated oven and someone is burning a mixture of yeast and stinky cheese inside of it.

Mexican Bishop Unhinged; Calls Homosexuality a Source of “Richness”
Mexican Bishop Raúl Vera, one of the strongest advocates for LGBT people within the Roman Catholic Church, is speaking out again. Vera, the bishop of Saltillo in Northern Mexico, made the following statement in an interview recently published in the Spanish and Latin American newspaper El País. He said: “The people who say homosexuals are sick are sick themselves. The Church needs to come to them not with condemnation, but with dialogue. We cannot cancel out a person’s richness just because of his or her sexual preference. That is sick, that is heartless, that is lacking common sense.”
Author’s note: Dear Bishop Raúl, homosexuality is not a source of “richness” for those such afflicted. As The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly states: “This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial.” And, in this “disordered” state, we are truly sick: for, we have closed ourselves off from the beauty and natural order of God’s plan. Furthermore, the carrying of this Cross does not require “dialogue.” Because, the solution has already been explicitly articulated: “These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.”

Actress, singer, and former Miss America Vanessa Williams has spoken out about being molested by an 18-year-old girl when she was only ten-years-old and how it’s had a negative impact on her psychologically. Vanessa Williams recently talked about a traumatic summer before she entered the fifth grade when a much older “cool girl” performed oral sex on her when she was staying with her friend’s family's friends in California. Even though Williams thought that her family friend’s daughter was cool at first she knew that what happened between them “wasn't supposed to be happening.” She was one of the cool girls, said Williams: “She made you want to feel like you were a grown-up.” Williams says that the incident sexualized her at an inappropriately early age and that in a way it took away some of her innocence: “Had that not happened in my life and had I had an opportunity to have a normal courtship with a boyfriend at 16 or whatever... there wouldn't have been that shame that was always haunting me. It made me more sexually promiscuous and more sexually curious at a younger age than I should have been.”
Author’s note: In 1984, the publication of naked photos featuring then Miss America Vanessa Williams was a seminal moment for any boy who grew up during the 80s. The photos were published in Penthouse (spanning over two issues), and featured Williams with another woman. Taken in 1982, when she was only 19 years old, they were rather graphic for the time. Somehow, through older brothers, or even fathers, or just stolen off the racks, the magazine got into the hands of almost every American boy. A pornographic pictorial would not make such a huge cultural impact until the semi-nude Vanna White Playboy appearance in 1987. (The Penthouse covers with George Burns, in hindsight, were incredibly creepy; as if Williams wasn’t in pornography, but merely co-starring in some light movie comedy.)
As was the case with both of these women, but probably more so with Williams, their layouts in porn marked a violent stripping away of innocence; not only for them, but, also for the viewer. This is primarily on account of the national symbolism often associated with Miss America: young, beautiful, and pure. For, the Williams Penthouse edition was like the over-played Don McLean song coming true: “…bye, bye Miss American Pie…” For a kid, those pictures were unavoidably erotic, but also sickeningly tragic. I recall not getting that turned on by them. They were like crime-scene photos: dark, artificial, and uncomfortably staged. And, then, there was the lesbianism. For most, it was our first glimpse at homosexuality. It left us uneasy and confused. Was this okay? Now, all these years later, it’s interesting to know the truth behind those images. Like Williams, as with many of us who got into porn, you often end-up reenacting the childhood abuse; it’s a bizarre way of trying to make the trauma seem bearable by performing it, and getting congratulated for doing so, in front of the public.

According to New Poll: A Third of Catholics Think Jesus Would Like Gay Marriage
The latest research from YouGov shows that on social issues in particular Americans tend to have more liberal attitudes than how they would imagine Jesus Christ. Comparing Protestants and Catholics it is revealed that Jesus' imagined position amongst Protestants is more conservative than amongst Catholics. For example, a third of Catholics say that Jesus would support gay marriage, compared to only 20% of Protestants.

This is Your Brain On Porn: New Study Shows that Pornography is Like Heroin

A scientific study at The University of Cambridge proved that looking at pornography gives sex addicts the same high as a drug addicts when they get high. The study participants (all males) were shown a series of short videos featuring either sexually explicit content or sports while their brain activity was monitored using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which uses a blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) signal to measure brain activity. The researchers found that three regions in particular were more active in the brains of the people with compulsive sexual behavior (CSB) compared with the healthy volunteers. Significantly, these regions – the ventral striatum, dorsal anterior cingulate and amygdala – were regions that are also particularly activated in drug addicts when shown drug stimuli:
“In this study of sexually explicit, erotic and non-sexual cues, individuals with CSB and those without showed similarities and differences with respect to patterns of neural responsivity and relationships between subjective and neural responses. Sexual desire or wanting of the explicit sexual cues was linked to a dACC-ventral striatal-amygdala functional network evident across both groups and more strongly activated and linked to sexual desire in the CSB group. Sexual desire or subjective measures of wanting appeared dissociated from liking, in line with incentive-salience theories of addiction in which there exists enhanced wanting but not liking of salient rewards. We further observed a role for age in which younger age, particularly in the CSB group, was associated with greater activity in the ventral striatum.”
In other words, both sets of males, those with a compulsive sex addition, and those without, responded with increased activity in the brain’s addiction centers; although, those with CSB reacted more severely. Furthermore, the exhibited brain activity went beyond a mere “liking” response to one that mirrors those pattered by drug addicts.

CDC Bombshell: Gays and Bisexuals Have Higher Rates of Mental Illness and Alcoholism
Lesbian, gay, and bisexual people are more likely to smoke, drink excessively, and experience serious psychological distress compared with heterosexual people according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report marks the first time that the CDC has looked at health disparities among lesbian, gay, and bisexual populations on a national level. CDC researchers recently added an option for people participating in the agency's National Health Interview Survey to indicate their sexual orientation. The survey, conducted in 2013, included nearly 35,000 adults. Among the participants, 96.6% identified themselves as straight, while 1.6% identified as gay or lesbian, and 0.7% identified as bisexual. The remaining 1.1% didn't select any of the options. The researchers found that a higher percentage of gay or lesbian (35.1%) and bisexual people (41.5%) said they had five or more drinks on one day at least once in the past year, compared with those who identified themselves as straight (26%). Similarly, a higher percentage of gay, lesbian and bisexual people reported being smokers, compared with straight participants. A higher percentage of bisexual people (11%) experienced serious psychological distress in the past 30 days, compared with their counterparts who identified as straight (3.9%).

Gay in San Francisco: Desperate and Diseased
According to the San Francisco Department of Public Health, 7 gay men were infected either with rectal gonorrhea or chlamydia every day during the month of May 2014. Not surprisingly, during the same testing period, gay men reported more than twice as many sex partners as heterosexual men and women.
