Larry Brinkin, the disgraced icon of the gay community and former San Francisco Human Rights Commission chief, was sentenced to six months in county jail after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography earlier this year. According to earlier reports, the materials involved the abuse of infants and was extremely graphic and violent. Brinkin will still receive his city pension. According to the U.S. Sentencing Commission, child pornography offenses carry a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, and the guidelines call for additional penalties — known as enhancements — based on a range of factors, such as the age of the children depicted in the imagery. As of 2012, the median sentence was seven years in prison.
