I have been wondering: Are there any studies that look at the connection between pornography and video games? After spending many frustrating hours scouring the Internet, I could find nothing of the definitive research I was hoping for. I did come across this interesting work:
According to the study “Pornography and Attitudes Supporting Violence Against Women: Revisiting the Relationship in Nonexperimental Studies” (2009,) “...the result of the present meta-analysis shows a significant overall relationship between pornography consumption and attitudes supporting violence against women in nonexperimental studies. This relationship was found to be significantly stronger for violent pornography than for nonviolent pornography, although both types of pornography showed significant positive associations with attitudes supporting violence against women.”
I find the results fascinating, as I would categorize most boy/adult male marketed video games as violent pornography. And, therefore, as I earlier argued, that porn should be reclassified as a sub-sect of the occult: so should violent video games. Since I belong to the completely antiquated Atari Generation (the most violent video game I played was probably Space Invaders) I am completely unfamiliar with contemporary computer entertainment. But just a short search on the Web found that most of these so-called games were graphically bloody and sickly familiar; much of the imagery I remember from my days in the world of hardcore BDSM. These electronic pictures seem to present the victim to the viewer: as is found in pornographic bondage films. And I am willing to venture that most violent video game players are also porn consumers; for both feed into the suffering need for escape and fantasy. The dangerous part: sometimes the fantasy is not enough. Beyond the possible future criminal implications, there is the human cost: the destruction of innocence and the loss of Love.
