Excerpt from the “intervention” before the Synod on the Family by Archbishop Tomash Peta of Astana Kazakhstan:
Blessed Paul VI said in 1972:
“From some crack the smoke of Satan has entered the temple of God.”
I am convinced that these were prophetical words of the holy pope, the author of “Humanae vitae”. During the Synod last year, “the smoke of Satan” was trying to enter the aula of Paul VI.
Namely:
1. The proposal to admit to Holy Communion those who are divorced and living in new civil unions;
2. The affirmation that cohabitation is a union which may have in itself some values;
3. The pleading for homosexuality as something which is allegedly normal.
First, this is a significant statement, because, as did Archbishop Fülöp Kocsis just a few days before, Archbishop Peta is also willing to admit that there are some incredibly confused, conflicted, and out-right anti-Catholic schemes being pushed forward within the current Synod process; second, that the ultimate source of these “proposals” is the devil; and most remarkably, the Archbishop points to the sad fact that some want to legitimize homosexuality: “…as something which is allegedly normal.” Although a rather simple declaration, in contemporary society: its incredibly counter-cultural; for instance, probably since the mid-1970s, homosexuality has been consistently presented, by such “prestigious” organizations as the American Psychological Association, the US Centers for Disease Control, and even the head of the German Bishops Conference - as healthy and normal, and, using the words of Cardinal Reinhard Marx: “right and good.” Part and parcel along with this wider movement within the secular world to present homosexuality as merely a natural variation, is the “gay Catholic” phenomena of those who uphold certain aspects of Catholic teaching on marriage and sexuality while attempting to reimagine “gay” as a workable framework that is redeemable; according to one adherent: “For this reason we often stay away from the language of “disorder” and “brokenness” that often surrounds the issue…” Yet, what Archbishop Peta is saying negates that argument; for, he is not only pointing out that homosexual activity is abnormal, but homosexuality itself, the orientation, is also abnormal. With this in mind, it’s surely not enough to solely recommend chastity to those who suffer with same-sex attraction, but also a more intensive program of deliverance and healing.
What’s not so normal about homosexuality:
“…that even in a country with a comparatively tolerant climate regarding homosexuality, homosexual men were at much higher risk for suicidality than heterosexual men.”
