“…the men of the city beset the house both young and old, all the people together. And they called Lot, and said to him: Where are the men that came in to thee at night? bring them out hither that we may know them: Lot went out to them, and shut the door after him, and said: no not so, I beseech you, my brethren, do not commit this evil. I have two daughters who as yet have not known man: I will bring them out to you, and abuse you them as it shall please you, so that you do no evil to these men…” (Genesis 19: 4-8)
I have always been fascinated and mystified by this passage from The Bible. Until recently, when I came across it once again, and thought back to my experiences in the gay lifestyle, I never understood what exactly was going on here. First of all, the Angels described were sent by God to take Lot and his family out of Sodom before it was destroyed. Apparently, the people of Sodom say the beautiful angelic beings as they entered the city, and were captivated by their fairness. Driven by their perverse passions, the Sodomites push at the door of Lot’s home – so that they may touch and have sexual relations with the Angels. Lot is understandably horrified. He understands that these are sacred creatures sent by the Almighty. He is so shocked by the proposition of the Sodomites that he even offers the sexual favors of his virgin daughters to the mob.
This bizarre scene from Scripture brings back images of the darkened corridors, hallways, and dungeons in the many gay bathhouses and sex-clubs in San Francisco that I once visited. Most of the incidents that I experienced there were so traumatic that they have been buried for years within my subconscious and or erased from my memory by the Healing Power of Our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe those that remain, are only there so that I may warn others of what awaits them if they dare to venture into these dangerous environs. What I recall most vividly where the solid, but constantly shifting darkened bodies that constantly moved by me in the crowded shadows of these pits of desperation and iniquity on Earth. They were beautiful in their form, only they remained always just out of full-focus. Oftentimes, I wanted to be with them. Later, I would see throngs of men jostling to kneel and worship at their feet. What were they? Now, I know that these strange creatures were the fallen angels of hell.
