There were three high-profile arrests and convictions of child porn perpetrators this week; all from the upper echelons of society: an architect, psychiatrist, and socialite. None are the typical perverted old man in the trench coat trying to lure kids with candy. But, as porn enters everyday existence, and forever leaves the back alleys, dirty book stores, and sex-shops, those being affected are increasingly coming from the middle-class, the professional trades; they are the respected, the wealthy, and the famous. No one is immune. I have always argued that all porn addictions, whether it’s a childhood exposure to Playboy, or seeing an X-rated film on the internet for the first time as a young boy – they all eventually lead to child pornography.
A renowned Long Island architect pleaded guilty to creating sexually explicit images using faces of children he had photographed pasted onto the bodies of adults. Jay Lockett Sears, 74, admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong, but claimed he didn't know it was child pornography punishable under the law. The feds said that some of the images included Sears' face pasted on the bodies of adult males so it appeared as if he was having sex with the children. The FBI identified the images of six youngsters ages 12 to 16 whose faces were used by Sears in the kiddie porn.
A Utah child psychiatrist has been arrested and fired after officials say they found child pornography on his computer. The Weber County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old David F. Wilson was arrested and booked into jail on 15 counts of possessing and viewing child pornography. Officials say hundreds of child pornography images were found on Dr. Wilson's computer at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, where he worked as a child psychiatrist.
A University Park socialite has admitted in federal court to downloading and sharing child pornography. Erika Susan Perdue, 42, acknowledged as part of her guilty plea that she traded child pornography while her husband was at work as a successful attorney. The government has agreed to a sentence of 14 years in federal prison as part of the plea deal, which a judge has to approve. Perdue had been distributing child pornography since 1999 and had so much of it, she lost track of her collection, authorities said. Perdue was arrested when she unknowingly shared some of the images with undercover police, who traced it to her computer. Agents raided her $1.4 million mansion in 2012 and found a cache of graphic videos and photos on her computer.
