Although the USCCB did research into the connection between the molestations of children by priests and the presence of homosexuality in the clergy, I have not seen any studies that delve into the porn usage by priests who later went on to abuse. For myself, I have an acute interest in this subject: because, unfortunately, in my personal life, I have come across priests who either watch porn, and or have engaged in sexual behavior with teenage boys and adult men. After some cursory research, during just this year alone, I discovered 3 cases which involved the use of porn by a priest who molested boys: a priest who attempted to solicit boys was found with child porn on his computer; another priest who sexually abused two boys was also found in possession of child porn; the last priest, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a boy, possessed large amounts of legal gay porn. The cases mentioned here are all from this year (2013.) I found others, but they were very similar in nature. Going back a few years, there are 100s.
Here, the problems is two-fold: the continued acceptance of gay priests in the Church; and the use of porn by these priests prior to molesting. Going back just a few weeks, I was surprised when Pope Francis mentioned the “gay lobby” in the Church, and his planned efforts to get rid of them. I pray he is successful. Second, I do not believe that the Church has yet adequately addressed the very real and urgent problem of pornography. Right now, it is decimating whole generations of young men. It's pervasive reach has even gone into the Church: would these homosexual-leaning priests abused if they had not seen porn? Perhaps. But, it is undeniable, that once they fell under the spell of porn, it became a near certainty that they would molest the boys in their charge. The Church must accept this. And, that it has also been duped. In her book “Sexual Sabotage” the super-smart Dr. Judith Reisman details how the Church in America bought into Kinsey-pop science by hiring wacko-sexologists as advisers. Like their pedophile founder, these men pushed the theory that homosexuality, and even attraction to children, were merely orientations. Shockingly, when I befriended a seminarian, who later abandoned his vocation, he told me bizarre stories of counselor priests, sisters, and psychologists who delved into his past and present sexual fantasies, preached the benefits of masturbation, and the use of pornography. At the time, I had only been out of porn about 3 years, and it all made my head spin. I would always ask him: What are you doing here? Finally, he left. Goodbye good men.
