I was surprised by the strange indignation flung at the Obama White House by conservative-leaning television and radio commentators; for the daily workings within the Obama administration are just the usual day to day machinations, gang warfare, and dirty deals which make up every liberal political and or social organization. When I was heavily involved with radical, anarchist, socialist, gay liberation groups at UC Berkeley, they all pretty much functioned in the same manner: a singular agenda, a group-think mentality, and an intense hatred for those in the opposition. I recall very well, being at a meeting of different groups wanting to protest the First Gulf War back in the early 1990s. There was a gay contingent there, which I was a part of. As the meeting dragged on, the rhetoric became more and more pro-PLO, Arab terrorism, and anti-America. At one point, I had had enough. I said, especially looking at the gay people in the room, I said something like: “These people in the Middle East want to put you in a sack and throw you alive off a cliff.” I got resoundingly booed and hissed down. I was finished.
This brings me to the current push by gay lobbyists and political operatives for same-sex marriage; and, this decision one day they will all regret. The contemporary situation reminds me of the late-Roman Republic, Pre-Revolutionary France, and the Wiemar Republic; all times of great decadence, moral ambiguity, and weak and ineffectual leaders. The pressing atmosphere, in all of the mentioned historical periods, neatly set up the rise of Fascist oligarchies. Over the past several months, there have been several gay-bashings, and even a gay-murder, in liberalized New York City. And, a well-known French historian shot himself in front of the altar inside Notre Dame Cathedral; in protest of the current legalization of same-sex marriage in France. This all bodes not well for the gay populus. For, I think the modern progressive campaign for reworking society and the family, will only result in an equally aggressive thrust back. We are now seeing it with the rise of Obama scandals that reek of thuggery, maliciousness, and an iron-heel attitude towards the citizenry. By throwing-in all their support behind Obama, the gay community comes off looking just as mean-spirited and intolerant. In turn, they will be hated.
