Hugh Hefner's youngest son Cooper, in his third year in college, said that he has big plans for Playboy, and insists on not calling the business pornography but “art.” He said that if one considers Playboy pornography, then you consider any photo of a nude woman or man pornography, the Independent reported. He added that if somebody is trying to argue the point that Playboy is pornography, then you probably shouldn't be showering or going to a museum where there's nude art, saying it's very hypocritical. He doesn't think Playboy objectifies women, and said that putting on the bunny outfit shouldn't be seen as derogatory.
As I have two degrees in Art History, I feel that I am somewhat qualified to comment. True Art never elicits a purely sexual response. It uplifts the mind and the spirit. Porn always shoots for the crotch. St. Paul knew exactly what he was writing when he stated: “gird your loins.” And he was specifically referring to the battle with the demonic entities of this Earth. Henceforth, porn truly originates from Hell, as it often steals the magnificent innovations of Art and subverts them for evil. For example, the beauty in the face of a woman, as she stares into the distance, is turned upside-down in porn: in order to suck the man (or woman) into an addictive cycle of neurotic subservience. The viewer is not brought joy, but only enslaved. The rush of fantasy is quickly spewed, and then replaced with emptiness. Art raises our intellect to appreciate the wonder of God's Creation. Playboy maybe considered soft-core, but it is still porn. For myself, it served as a gateway sentinel into the more lurid world of deviancy. It is Satan veiled in the thin layer of glamor.
