At the Holy Father's recent Wednesday audience, he had this to say: “We have One who always defends us. He defends us from the insidiousness of the Devil, He defends us from ourselves, from our sins. But, dear brothers and sisters, we have this advocate. We must not be afraid to turn to Him, to turn to him with our fears, to ask for his blessing and mercy.” As I have already written, in previous blogs, the Pope is not afraid to mention the evil one. I have found that this tends to be the case with all those who Love Our Lady; and Pope Francis is very Marian. The reverse is also true of clergy and laymen alike who think Mary is a Medieval throwback, and that the devil is pure superstition. Because, it makes sense, if you believe that the Virgin Mary will crush the head of the devil, then you must believe in Satan. Nevertheless, I dislike giving too much credit to the devil, although he is a major player on the world stage, the Holy Father understands evil and he realizes the power it has on many lives.
