The omnipresent Facebook has sparked fury after a graphic child abuse video went viral on the social network, reportedly being “shared” over 16,000 times. Thousands of users logged onto their accounts on the night of March 21, 2013 to find the horrifying footage appear on their personal news feed and instantly took to Twitter to vent their disgust. According to users who saw the clip, apparently of a young girl being abused by a grown man, it had already been shared over 16,000 times and received almost 4,000 “likes.”
What shocks me about this story, is not that child porn turned up on Facebook, it is that so many people actually “shared” and or “liked” the video. Have our tastes become so perverse that child porn is now an acceptable entertainment alternative? But this is exactly how porn works: those who view it slowly become immune, and therefore need harder and more intense material in order to becomke aroused. As someone who got hooked on porn as a kid, I can relate how, at one time, Playboywas more than enough to get me exited. Later, it was like opening up a Good Housekeepingmagazine. Even when I got into hardcore videocassettes, sooner, rather than later, they started to bore me. The only thing left was to actually do porn. The thrill was fleeting. For myself, the only adventure left was: death. For others, they are drawn into the ever darkening world of child-porn, bondage, and bestiality. It's a road to hell.
