Hillary Clinton recently came out in support of gay marriage. This new view is in direct opposition to her earlier support for the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law by her husband, President Bill Clinton. The law banned federal recognition of gay marriage and allowed states to ignore same-sex unions licensed elsewhere.Clinton said in January, 2000that marriage does not include gay unions: “Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman.” What has changed? The modern media buzz-word is that political positions are always “evolving.” But, as American novelist Flannery O'Connor once wrote: “The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it.” What can Hillary no longer keep down? Is it the truth? Unfortunately, many in the gay community have pinned their hopes and desires to these false prophets. They do not have any of us, our best interests at heart. They are merely looking for the next voting-block; sealing up the base; bringing everyone into the fold. Do these media-made-messiahs know us; do they know our pains? Or are they merely paying homage to our wishes? For this reason, we should never place our lives in the hands of mortal men, but only in the caring and loving embrace of the Father; as He wants nothing from us. He just wants to heal us, and make us whole again.
