Judge Who Struck Down Prop. 8: A New Height in Elitism

While reading an article (dated: 2/21/13) about Vaughn Walker, the Judge who struck down Prop. 8, the voter passed proposition which would have prohibited same-sex marriage in California, I was amazed by nothing this man said, but by the sickeningly elitist attitude exhibited in the piece. The reporter wrote:
He [Walker] doesn't miss the judge job much, nor the federal courthouse's Tenderloin neighborhood. He enjoys a spectacular view of the bay and can walk to nearby restaurant favorites such as La Mar, where he lunched last week on Peruvian fare as he discussed the complexities of the Proposition 8 case. (An avid traveler, Walker has journeyed to Peru several times.)
The poor man. He had to sully his shoes by walking into the Tenderloin ghetto just to get to work. But, now, we can all rejoice, as he is barricaded in his downtown home. Currently, Walker, who is now retired, spends his days in private practice in San Francisco focusing on arbitration and mediation services, as well as lecturing at Stanford University Law School and the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
Back in 2010, at the time of his controversial ruling, Walker summed up support for Proposition 8 as emanating from “a fear or unarticulated dislike of same-sex couples.” Ridiculous.
