I just came across an interesting story about a new Russian Saint, neo-martyr Evgeny Rodionov. The 19-year old solider was drafted into the Army during the First Chechen War of the mid 1990s. He was captured and beheaded in 1996 when he refused to remove his Cross or convert to Islam. A huge groundswell of popular devotion then emerged among the Russian populous for this forgotten young man. This goes to prove: that even small and personal acts of Belief and Love in the Lord can raise our souls (and those of others) to heaven. For, around the ashes of satanic communism, a boy born within the evil of atheism, could still hold onto his Faith and become a martyr for Jesus.
